“Anne of Green Gables: a play with music”
by L.M. Montgomery
Adapted by Taffy Geisel
Music and Lyrics by Joey Geisel
When middle-aged Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert decide to adopt a boy from the orphanage, little do they expect the chaos that is unleashed when young Anne Shirley is delivered to them by mistake! Anne has no parents, and has never been trained in how to be respectable. So Anne proceeds to up-end every expectation of polite society. Anne explodes with rage at the uppity Mrs.Lynde - breaks a slate over teasing Gilbert Blythe's head – unknowingly gets her best friend Diana Barry drunk on homemade wine – and almost dies from accepting conceited Josie Pye's dare to walk the ridgepole of the schoolhouse.
Yet, in spite of terrible mistakes, Anne's loving nature hugs its way into Marilla and Matthew's hearts, and ends up changing their lives forever. And their hometown of Avonlea will never be the same.
