About Us

The Cleburne Public Library originated in 1901 with the formation of a local Women's Club that sought funding from Andrew Carnegie. Carnegie provided a $20,000 grant in 1902, which the community matched, and the library building was completed in 1905. The building served as the public library until 1978, when the library moved to a new location. Then, the building was converted into the Layland Museum of History.
